Freedom Delivery - April 19th, 2024
Recently I’ve been playing quite a bit of Helldivers 2 with friends, and I got inspired by the Hellpod launch sequence in the game. I instantly knew I wanted to create something similar telling the quick, but exciting story of the Hellpod’s journey from outer orbit to planet surface. In regards to the look, I thought back to Orion Terry’s work he did on his short film Rise. Here I’ve been documenting my process and work done in my free time.
April 20, 2024: Started to organize my thoughts, and get an understanding of the general task at hand. Jotting down list of assets and shots needed.
April 25, 2024: Began the modeling process. Continued to get some rough animation going along with a rough fx pass for a simple proof of concept.
April 29, 2024: Recently jumped into the look development process. Ended up choosing to develop the hellpod using procedural shaders.
May 1, 2024: Started getting some fx renders out.
Took those same fx elements and began working on a quick composite
to test my current comp workflow for the background projection
